BAPTISM: Baptisms are usually celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month around 11.00am. You will be invited to join our pre-baptismal program which is organised by a couple in the Parish. They will journey with you through to your child's/children's baptism. This is an exciting time for you and the Parish. Please download the baptismal form, fill it in and return it to the Parish. You will soon be contacted by one of the couples. Baptism Application
FIRST RECONCILIATION: This Sacrament has been called the Sacrament of Penance and Confession, but now known as the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is usually celebrated in grade three or later if you feel your child/children are not ready. The preparation is Parish based which simply means the work is done in the home through the guidance of the parish volunteer. For those with children in our Parish School, the children also study religion in class. This is a great support for the families.
FIRST EUCHARIST: Which is the high point of the Catholic Community, as Vatican two says... "it is the source and summit" of the life of the church. In the Eucharist we are nourished by the Body and Blood of Christ, the one who is the food for our journey. If you would like your child to receive their first communion which we celebrate when they are in grade 4 or later.
CONFIRMATION: Confirmation is a deeper initiation into the faith community “Sealing” meaning “to Belong”. Acts 8:14-17 “Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. The two went down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit (for as yet the Spirit had not come upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus). Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit." (NRSV) Confirmation is related to Baptism. Here, at Holy Saviour Parish we celebrate Confirmation at the age of 16 years.
The date for Sacrament of Confirmation will be 18 August, 7.00pm
to be celebrated at St Christopher's Parish, Syndal
MARRIAGE: In the Catholic Church is the covenant by which man and woman establish a partnership for life, reflecting something of the bond of love between Christ and his people.
ANOINTING OF THE SICK: It is the Sacrament that helps unite those who are suffering with Jesus' saving and healing power. The Sacrament may be celebrated in the Parish Masses on a week day or Sunday. It may also be celebrated in the home or hospital.
HOLY ORDERS: This sacrament is about the ordination of a person to deaconate or priesthood. Please talk to the Parish Priest or contact the vocations office. Vocations Office
