BEREAVEMENT GROUP
This small group assists the grieving family with the preparation of the liturgy through personal consultation, the preparation of booklets for the funeral and general setting up and assistance at the church.
FAMILY GROUPS
History: In 1972 Father Peter McGrath, a Passionist priest in Terrey Hills Sydney, saw the formation of small groups as a way of fostering community spirit that the Parish experienced in its beginnings.
The growth of these small groups has developed to the extent that there are now groups spread throughout many parishes in Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania and other States in Australia.
As of September 2021 there are five active Family Groups in the Holy Saviour Parish.
Objectives: To get to know and experience the support and friendship of other people of the parish and beyond its boundaries. To build on the sense of community that currently exists in the parish by sharing each other’s joys and sorrows, be supportive in times of need and develop lasting friendships.
Who can join?: Open to all. No restrictions. No joining fees. One parent families. Non-church going spouses. Single-separated-divorced people. Families with and without children.
What activities do they do?: Many and varied activities as decided by each group. These include – shared meals in homes and restaurants, picnics and bbq’s, weekends away and other daily outings.
